APO Nationals Anaheim 2012
Hello Alpha Alpha Brothers,
I am Alpha Alpha's National Convention Coordinator this year and the APO National Convention 2012 is being held in Anaheim, California! It will be held at the Anaheim Marriott from December 27th - December 30th, 2012. This year's theme is Time to Shine: Anaheim 2012.
Held every even number years, the National Convention is the ideal time for Leadership, Friendship and Service, and is a spectacular event for brothers to attend. APO Nationals are attended by all APO Chapters around the US. Nationals aim to create fellowship opportunities, promote exchange of ideas for service projects, and discuss Chapter operations among Brothers from across the nation. It also aims to develop the leadership ability of the Brothers in attendance. Located in sunny Southern California, Anaheim is a pulsating tourist destination with fine dining, shopping and endless attractions - including Disneyland Park and Resort and the beautiful Pacific coastline - that are sure to pique the imagination of visitors of every age. You can't ask for a better location for the Convention in December. No doubt about it, Anaheim is the place to be. Here is some important information.
Registration: There are different registration options for all actives and pledges. You could pay $99 for the convention but I highly recommend you go for the APO Value Package. For $175, you will be able to attend the convention including the Fellowship and Awards Banquet. If that is too expensive for you could also go for the $99 Registration and attend one of the Banquets for $48 (Awards) and $43 (Fellowship) respectively. Please register on the website: https://www4292.ssldomain.com/patriotsoftware/APO/Registration/RegisterPerson1.asp. After registering for the conference, please save a copy of the receipts and forward it to email@example.com.
Lodging: We will book a block in the Anaheim Marriott for all Alpha Alpha Brothers. It will cost $116/night, to be split up among the people sharing the room. Each room will be shared between 4 people. It will cost you $145 for the five nights (26th through 30th) we stay there. The check for the lodging deposit should be turned in by Thursday, October 11th. Please write the check to "Alpha Alpha Alpha Phi Omega" and give it to me or put it in the blue box in the office. I will start booking rooms once I have deposits from 4 or 8 people, so get your checks in ASAP.
Travel: All brothers are supposed to book their travel on their own, to ensure cheaper tickets for people who plan their trip early. Here is a link to the information about the Airports close to Marriott Anaheim: http://www.apo.org/leadershipdevelopment/nationalconvention/travel. I am unable to suggest which Airport you should fly to because it will be different for everyone. Last night, I looked for flights from ORD to LAX and the best rate I could find was $372.18. The link above also tells you about the various shuttle services available from the Airports to our hotel. Remember, you could plan to spend your new years with fellow APO brothers in California because Marriott will be honoring the $99/night rate till January 2nd 2013. You could discuss that with the fellow brothers on the APO Nationals Fb Group. There is a question in the google form below about that.
To sum it up, the convention will cost you about $750 ($175- Registration + $145- Lodging + $400- Flights +$30- Shuttle). I know it is going to be expensive. But, with the chapterís support we will be able to fundraise a lot to bring the costs down. We will be fundraising throughout the semester and I have already applied for SORF Funding. I am also contacting business around Champaign to donate/sponsor our trip. And obviously, we will make cool Nationals Apparel! If you have any other fundraising ideas, email me!! Donít worry, we will bring the costs down for everyone attending! Either way, the most important thing is every cent of the money you spend for this convention will be worth it.

to the brothers that came to A Night to Remember
! This event was meant to entertain as well as raise awareness about Alzheimer's disease
. It's unbelievable how many people are affected by this disease, and memory impairment is one of the most difficult effects to watch a loved one endure. Sigma Kappa and Illini Union Board greatly appreciate
those that attended the event and supported the philanthropy that means so much to us.

Alzheimer's Awareness Event
There's a new fellowship event added for this Sunday! It's a movie on the Quad!!!
It would be great to have you all there to support a brother that's helping host this huge event, called A Night to Remember, to both honor those affected by Alzheimer's and inform the campus about the effect this has on in our nation.
Hope you can all have some LFS bonding while supporting some brothers that are co-hosting this event.
