Hello brothers:
My name is Jordan Hartness and I am a senior nursing major, and have been in APO since my sophomore year. As
much as I love APO, this semester I would not be able to give all my time to it. I am in my last semester of college,
and I am taking my two nursing classes, N450 and N460. I also have clinical for 8 hours a day on Tuesday and
Thursday. I am also doing an internship for nursing which requires me to have 160 hours of clinical experience. I
also am working at the OSF hospital in Peoria, and I work there on the weekends. As much as I would love to be in
APO, I feel as if I would not be able to dedicate all the time necessary to the chapter this semester. Thanks!

Dear APO:
I have been an active member of APO since my sophomore year and have enjoyed it immensely. In
my last semester of undergrad as a nursing major, I am taking two 300 and two 400 level classes: Human Sexuality,
Management and Leadership, Public Health Nursing and an Internship. I have clinicals lasting 8 hours on Tuesdays
and Thursdays with a commute, on top of completing 120 hours of clinical for my internship. I have many research
papers and projects to complete for all four classes. I also work as a patient care technician at Bromenn Hospital,
and sell for Shirk Center Concessions at select events. I wish I had time to continue being active in APO this
semester, but with my schedule I cannot. Please consider my request to go associate.
Thank you,
Megan DeLong

I would like to go associate this semester because I have a full class load this semester which includes
Physics, Biostatistics, Chordate Comparative Anatomy and Behavioral Neuroscience. I also have 10 hours
of lab during the week and 10 hours of a work study position. I also am a TA for General Biology on
Wednesday nights. I am also in an a Capella group that rehearses 4+ hours a week with extra rehearsals
expected because we are preparing for the ICCA competition. Im not going to be able to make it to
Tuesday night meetings because of Lab.

Hello fellow brothers,
I honestly wish I didn’t have to go associate and I have been struggling with this idea for the past couple of weeks.
But, I know that I will not be able to be as fully involved as I have been in past semesters because of my busy
schedule. I am taking all upper level Biology courses this semester including Biochemistry (417), which is probably
the most difficult biology course you can take. I am also doing research with Dr. Bollivar this semester which
requires me to be in the lab 8 hours a week. I also TA for the Plant anatomy lab sections which is another 8 hours
of lab time a week. I also have an internship with the Ecology Action Center which is a 15 hour a week job and a
weekend job officiating the Track meets on campus. I also have physics lab on Tuesday nights during the APO
meetings. I hope to take the GRE by the end of this semester as well so I will be studying for that in my free time.
Thank you for being understanding .

Good evening,
I am seeking Associate Status due to my incredibly difficult semester. Currently, I am in several 300- and 400-level
Physics and Math courses. I hold four jobs on campus. I am the full time student manager at Information
Technology, I am the TA for Engineering Design and Mathematical Methods, I tutor for the Physics department,
and currently serve as the Lab Equipment Manager. These jobs, alone, take over 20 hours out of each week.
Beyond these, I am on two research teams, both which meet at least 5 to 10 hours each week. Lastly, I am applying
to internships, scholarships, graduate schools, and am taking the Physics and General GRE this April. Studying for
those tests should ideally take 2 hours each night the four months leading up to the exams. In order to properly
prepare for my future and exceed as a student the best I can, I hope to take Associate Status for this Spring.
Though I love APO and my involvement, I just cannot truly put my heart into my volunteer hours this semester.
Thank you for your consideration,
Hayley Roberts

Dearest brothers,
I sadly need to go associate for this semester. I’m already drowning in med school interviews, catching up on
missed class time, being in lab about 25 hours every week, and attempting to write a senior thesis. Obviously I love
APO and want to be as active as I can so I’ll always come to chapter and do as many events as possible, I’m just
worried that I won’t have enough time to finish all of the requirements this semester. I definitely would not take
being associate as a reason to not be involved in APO, and would do as much as I can to spend quality time with all
